Position Summary
The Assistant Kitchen Manager supports the Kitchen Manager in overseeing all BOH operations. This role ensures food quality, consistency, safety, and efficient kitchen performance. The AKM is a hands-on leader who assists with production, prep, ordering, training, and overall culinary execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing all daily kitchen operations, prep, and service execution
- Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation
- Perform station production and work the line during peak hours
- Supervise, train, and coach kitchen staff to meet performance and safety standards
- Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and health protocol compliance (logs, storage, cleanliness, etc.)
- Help manage prep lists, production schedules, and kitchen organization
- Monitor inventory levels; assist with ordering, receiving, and product rotation
- Support menu development, recipe testing, and implementation of new items
- Assist in planning and executing special events, features, and high-volume services
- Maintain a positive and professional working environment for the culinary team
- Communicate effectively with FOH leadership to ensure smooth service flow
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Line Lead, or Assistant Kitchen Manager preferred
- Strong culinary knowledge and ability to execute high-volume service
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and develop BOH staff
- Working knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to stay organized and calm in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to operational excellence
- Serve-safe certified

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
