We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Lab Manager with proven management experience. A background in photographic or audio/visual media is a plus. This role supports the Lab Manager in overseeing digitizing efforts at our lab, ensuring adherence to processes and accountability for the upkeep of the physical space. The Assistant Lab Manager plays a vital role in upholding quality and efficiency standards while working closely with our national support team. This position has limited client interaction—only stepping in when an escalated issue cannot be resolved at the front desk. The role is best suited for someone who enjoys supporting both people and processes in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Job Duties:

  • Assist the Lab Manager in overseeing digitizing operations, ensuring projects meet EverPresent’s quality standards and turnaround deadlines.
  • Train, guide, and supervise lab staff in digitizing techniques, equipment usage, workflow processes, and safety protocols.
  • Monitor daily workflow and productivity, making real-time adjustments to meet production targets.
  • Learn and reinforce operating procedures, promoting efficiency and consistent quality across the team.
  • Support the Lab Manager in conducting performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab environment.
  • Accurately document work and project progress in the client database.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support lab operations.

Essential Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in media, archiving, broadcast, or management a plus.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Minimum of 1 year proven leadership experience with direct staff oversight, including HR-related responsibilities such as training, performance management, and scheduling.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, motivate, and hold team members accountable.
  • Proven hands-on experience in audio/visual or photographic media is a significant plus.
  • Ability to perform moderate troubleshooting or repairs on related equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Skilled using Windows-based computers.
  • Professional demeanor with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a thorough and efficient manner.
  • Punctual, reliable, and able to commute consistently via personal or public transportation.
  • Motivated, quick learner with a strong work ethic.
  • Seeks meaningful work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Essential Physical Job Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk; use fingers, hands and arms to feel, reach, handle, push, pull, and carry; bend, lift, and move 25–30 lbs.
  • Ability to sit at and use a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Tolerance for dust, mold, and mildew that may be encountered when working with and transporting old and/or damaged film, photographs, or related media.
  • All candidates must be willing to submit to a background check.

Details:

Full-time position. Tuesday-Saturday

Pay: Range $22-$24 Hourly with access to overtime pay and eligible for EverPresent’s Lab Excellence Incentive Program.

Schedule:

  • Alternating Schedule of:
  • Week A: (5) 8 hr Days Monday to Friday
  • Week B: (5) 8 hr Days Tuesday to Saturday

Travel requirement:

  • First 4 weeks of employment: Training at our headquarters in Newton, MA. Hotel, transportation, and per diem provided
  • After training: Travel limited to less than 2 weeks annually
