Assistant Logistics Manager

Overview

The Assistant Logistics Manager is responsible for scheduling all hotshot shipments and assisting with heavy haul quotes and shipments.

Job Outline

Assistant Logistics Manager will fulfill the following duties:

  • Trucking
    • Schedule hotshot shipments and assist with heavy haul shipments for rental and sales deliveries as well as branch transfers.
    • Keeping records of tracking numbers and load pickup dates and times
    • Keep constant communication with branches, salesmen and customer on deliveries for rentals, sales and transfers.
    • Work with haulers for competitive quotes and creating purchase orders for moves
    • Fill in for Logistics Manager and Logistics Coordinator when needed.
  • Yard
    • Assist with loading and unloading trucks which would include operating forklift, heavy equipment and rigging when needed.
    • Fill out delivery/receiving reports and ensuring accuracy when needed.
    • Assist with inventory and audits when needed.
  • All other related duties as assigned

Travel

Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Education and Experience

  • 1-3 Years of hauling experience in a dealership environment preferred

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong desire to help others
  • Strong desire to learn new skill sets and knowledge
  • Strong computer and systems knowledge

Specific skill requisites

  • Familiarity with multiple software programs including: preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Good business acumen.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and heavy equipment
  • Working knowledge of DOT compliance

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a Full-Time position. This position is expected to be in the office Monday through Friday during standard working hours. Occasional long hours are required as needed.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. This role also routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
