The Role
The Assistant Manager – Logistics handles activities associated with import and export for RAK Ceramics & Group Companies. This role is responsible for the end-to-end management of logistics operations including container shipments, bulk vessels, customs clearances, heavy lift cargo, and high-value shipments. The role will develop vendor relationships, oversee import/export cost management, ensure timely delivery of goods, and drive compliance with customs regulations.
What You Will Be Doing

Develop strategy for Import & Export of Containers, Bulk Vessel and Customs clearances, over dimensioned cargo, heavy lift cargo, bulk cargo, high value cargo and urgently required shipment.

Develop key vendors in the areas of Container logistics, customs clearances, port operations etc.

Develop market intelligence, indices and understand price influencers.

Plan and execute operations, safe and on-time arrival of cargo at destination port, customs clearance in time and within norms, dispatch of finished goods as per the sales schedule.

Manage and control the various costs involved in import and export operations such as customs duties paid, payments to clearing agents, logistics cost etc.

Provide forecasts and inputs regarding import and export costs etc. during the budgeting process.

Review performance periodically and ensure timely submission of the review report to management.

Identify preferred suppliers and manage relationships, ensure service level to user departments, adhere to laid down standards and processes in import and export operations.

Provide service to the indenter and site during the execution / post ordering stage for smooth operations.

Monitor and manage operational issues effectively and report periodically / on case-to-case basis to management. Closures of issues on quarterly basis

Bachelor’s degree and an MBA

10 to 12 years of experience including minimum 3 to 5 years in a relevant logistics/supply chain experience in UAE.

Knowledge of Logistics & Supply Chain management principles

Knowledge of import & export laws and regulations

Knowledge of tax implications on procurement for import – export transactions

Skill to deal with customs officials, port officials, and other government personnel
