Ohm Coffee Roasters is a small but hard-rocking specialty coffee roaster, with a loyal and fast-growing customer base in and around Napa, CA. Started in May, 2016, our craft espresso truck visits local farmers markets, wineries, and events big and small primarily in the North Bay. We are a mainstay of the Napa Farmers Market, and have had our truck at some of the premier events in the area including BottleRock, Auction Napa Valley, the Napa Valley Film Festival, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, and Napa Porchfest. In addition to the truck business, Ohm also sells to local grocers, cafés, restaurants and wineries, as well as online via our website and rapidly expanding subscription service. We just opened a brand new roasting space near downtown Napa that is equipped with a well-appointed tasting lab/cupping room. This space is used for industry training and will soon be open for consumer/retail experiences. Job Overview

Purpose of the Job:

    The Ohm Coffee Roasters Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting all aspects of the business prospectus, including but not limited to the support of staffing and scheduling, subscription sales/maintenance, event inquiries and booking, payroll and hr processes and truck operations. They are ultimately responsible for training and ensuring the leadership team, consisting of shift supervisors and lead baristas are equipped to handle the day-to-day shift operations, maintaining high standards and conditions, and fostering a positive and safe work environment that motivates our staff to deliver outstanding customer service via effective staffing, scheduling, communication, and prioritizing.

    Additionally, the Assistant Manager is integral in supporting the General Manager by focusing on growing the business to exceed the Annual Operating Plan. Finding new and innovative ways to capture sales for growth. Much the like General Manager role, the Assistant Manager plays a critical role in shaping the tone and personality of our small business by leading life through a positive and uplifting lens, even when they are not physically present. This individual understands that it is flawless execution of the details that makes for an outstanding customer experience, and that outstanding customer experiences are the lifeblood of our business.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

A) Provide Rockstar Customer Service

-Be the Role Model for—and “owner” of—outstanding service during shift

-Lead and inspire team members to do the same

-Motivate other members of the management team to emphasize the importance of customer service during their coaching and training

-Pro-actively solve customer problems and satisfy customers in various situations

-Develop a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items

-Respond proactively to prevent customer service situations. Investigate and resolve customer incidents, documenting if necessary

-Consistently monitor, coach, and encourage team members to improve their service skills

-Solicit customer feedback to understand customer needs and the needs of the local community

-Respond to emails and other communications promptly, with positive and professional expression

B) Serve Rockstar Products

-Ensure all company drink recipes and procedures are followed, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards

-Ensure that all team members are educated on our products and services, develop a deep understanding of our various types of coffee, regions, and other products

-Taste products on a per shift basis for quality assurance and encourage other training managers to do the same

C) Day-to-Day Management: safe, efficient, profitable truck operations, rockstar event execution

-Truck startup and breakdown—ensure truck is fully stocked/prepared for the day’s shift, arrives/departs each stop on time, and has the best possible positioning/visual merchandising at its locations

-Post-shift, ensure truck is thoroughly cleaned/restocked and secured for the next shift, with any reorder or maintenance issues communicated or resolved

-Maintain a clean, organized work environment, with an eye for detail. Interface with on-site event planners/managers to ensure success

-Perform all POS duties, ensure all orders are entered and transactions completed accurately.

-Establish effective and positive communication amongst all team members

-Ensure all cash handling procedures are upheld. Accountable for shift cash drawer

-Assist in planning and executing all sales promotions effectively and efficiently

-Follow and direct team members to follow company policies and procedures, and adhere to merchandising and cleanliness standards

-Promote and practice safe work habits, reporting potential safety or security hazards, operational inconsistencies and team member incidents to the owner

-Report/document team member accidents, conduct initial investigation and determinations of root cause in the interest of maintaining a safe work environment

-Ensure adherence to applicable wage and hour laws, ensure team members adhere to meal and break policy

D) Ongoing Management: support business operations

-Ensure products are reordered in a timely manner (beans, dairy, dry goods…) with no out-of-stocks or spoiled product

-Consistent and effective scheduling and event planning

-Consolidate month-end inventory and follow other procedures

-Delegate production of cold brew and other prepared items as needed

-Manage the truck preventative maintenance schedule, as well as other maintenance activities.

-Communicate the upcoming schedule and updates to our ongoing clients and upcoming event contacts regularly

-Assume additional management tasks and projects as assigned

E) Train, Coach, Mentor

-Lead, coach, and develop the team

-Provide real-time feedback and take corrective action when necessary to ensure team members are achieving their highest potential

-Develop regular employee performance reviews

-Meet team members at their level of education, and set goals for continuous development.

-Challenge and inspire employees to achieve business results

-Recognize, reinforce, and celebrate individual and team accomplishments

-Promote a positive workplace environment based on mutual respect, hard work, dedication to excellence, and fun

Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for overall staffing, scheduling, and assisting with interviews/new-hire training

Qualification Requirements:

Basic computer skills required—Square POS, Homebase scheduling, Google Drive/Sheets

-Must be able to work overtime, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, special events, and taking on special projects as needed

Must be able to safely drive/operate a 21-foot coffee truck

-Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. English required, Spanish or other languages a plus

-Basic mechanical, electrical, and/or automotive maintenance knowledge a plus

-Minimum high school diploma or equivalent

-Minimum one year of retail or six months of specialty coffee experience

-Minimum one year DTC, sales or similar experience

-Previous supervisory experience of at least one year

-ServSafe or equivalent CA food handler or manager certificate

-CA Driver License, clean driving record

-SCAA training/certification a plus

-First Aid/CPR certification a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
