Position Summary
The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the store and ensuring exceptional customer service, employee performance, operational efficiency, and compliance with company policies and procedures. The Assistant Manager serves as a leader within the store, providing direction and support to employees while helping maintain a clean, safe, and profitable business environment.
In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager may assume responsibility for the operation of the store and the supervision of employees.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesStore Operations
- Assist in the daily operation of the store and ensure all company policies and procedures are followed.
- Open and close the store as scheduled.
- Ensure the store is clean, organized, stocked, and customer-ready at all times.
- Monitor fuel islands, parking areas, restrooms, and customer service areas for cleanliness and safety.
- Assist in maintaining proper inventory levels throughout the store.
- Receive, verify, and organize merchandise deliveries.
- Ensure products are properly stocked, rotated, and displayed.
- Monitor and report maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, and safety concerns.
Employee Supervision
- Assist with training and developing employees.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to store employees.
- Monitor employee performance and report concerns to management.
- Ensure employees comply with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Assist with shift scheduling and shift coverage when needed.
- Delegate tasks and ensure completion of assigned duties.
- Lead by example through professionalism, reliability, and strong work ethic.
Customer Service
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Resolve customer concerns and complaints professionally and promptly.
- Ensure employees provide courteous and professional service.
- Assist customers with questions regarding store products and services.
Cash Handling and Financial Responsibilities
- Operate cash registers and point-of-sale systems.
- Perform cashier functions as needed.
- Assist with shift changes, cashier reports, and daily reconciliation procedures.
- Verify cash drawers, deposits, and lottery transactions.
- Follow all company cash handling procedures and security protocols.
- Assist in preventing cash shortages, theft, and fraud.
Lottery, Tobacco, Alcohol, and Age-Restricted Sales
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding age-restricted sales.
- Verify identification when required.
- Assist in managing lottery inventory and sales procedures.
- Ensure employees follow all company and regulatory requirements regarding lottery, tobacco, alcohol, and other regulated products.
Inventory Control
- Assist with inventory counts and audits.
- Monitor product levels and communicate ordering needs.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and report findings to management.
- Assist in reducing product loss, waste, and shrinkage.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe environment for employees and customers.
- Report accidents, injuries, equipment failures, and hazardous conditions immediately.
- Assist with compliance related to fuel operations, environmental requirements, and store regulations.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete required paperwork, reports, and documentation accurately and on time.
- Assist with vendor check-ins and invoice verification.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding company information, employee matters, and financial records.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding store performance and operational concerns.
Qualifications

Physical Requirements

Acknowledgment
Due to the nature of convenience store operations, Assistant Managers may be required to perform duties outside their primary responsibilities, including cashier duties, stocking, cleaning, inventory management, and customer service. All employees are expected to support store operations as needed.
