Assistant Manager

Role Description The Assistant Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in State College, PA. This position supports daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, managing schedules, and ensuring a welcoming, organized environment. The Assistant Manager helps supervise staff and volunteers, coordinates program activities and events, and assists with inventory, supplies, and facility upkeep. This role also supports customer and member service by responding to inquiries, resolving concerns, and maintaining clear communication with participants and partners. The Assistant Manager collaborates with leadership on basic reporting, process improvements, and implementation of organizational policies and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in day-to-day operations, including scheduling, task prioritization, and basic administrative support.
  • Experience in team support, such as assisting with staff coordination, providing guidance, and fostering a respectful, inclusive environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, including clear verbal and written communication and active listening with diverse groups.
  • Proven customer or member service skills, including handling inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining a positive, professional demeanor.
  • Basic organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing needs and handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Comfort using common office and collaboration tools (e.g., email, shared documents, basic spreadsheets, scheduling systems).
  • Prior experience in community programs, student organizations, youth services, or similar environments is beneficial.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in management, education, or related fields is a plus.
