Job Summary
The Assistant Manager – Audit (Shipping) is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing internal audits related to shipping operations, port activities, freight management, and financial transactions. The role ensures operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and strengthening of internal controls within shipping and logistics processes.
Key Responsibilities1. Audit Planning & Supervision
- Develop annual audit plans focusing on shipping operations and logistics functions.
- Lead and supervise audit assignments across branches, ports, and operational sites.
- Allocate audit tasks and review working papers of audit team members.
- Ensure audits are completed within timelines and in accordance with audit standards.
2. Operational Audit – Shipping & Port Operations
- Review shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, Delivery Orders, cargo manifests, and freight invoices.
- Audit vessel handling charges, demurrage, detention, port dues, and terminal expenses.
- Evaluate compliance with port authority and maritime regulations.
- Conduct branch and warehouse audits, including stock and cargo verification.
3. Financial & Revenue Audit
- Review revenue recognition for freight forwarding, chartering, and logistics services.
- Verify shipping contracts, freight agreements, and vendor settlements.
- Identify revenue leakages, cost inefficiencies, and irregularities.
- Review receivables aging, outstanding freight balances, and customer reconciliations.
4. Compliance & Regulatory Review
- Ensure compliance with regulations of Karachi Port Trust
- Ensure compliance with Port Qasim Authority
- Review customs documentation in line with Federal Board of Revenue requirements
- Assess adherence to internal SOPs and risk management policies.
5. Risk Management & Internal Controls
- Identify operational, financial, and compliance risks within shipping transactions.
- Evaluate effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements.
- Monitor implementation of corrective actions from previous audits.
- Support fraud investigations and special audits when required.
6. Reporting & Stakeholder Communication
- Prepare comprehensive audit reports with findings and actionable recommendations.
- Present audit observations to senior management.
- Follow up on agreed action plans and ensure timely closure of audit issues.
- Assist in Board / Audit Committee reporting (if applicable).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- ACCA / CA (Part Qualified or Qualified preferred).
- 4–6 years of audit experience, preferably in shipping, logistics, or port operations.
- Strong understanding of shipping documentation and freight operations.

- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and ERP systems.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to conduct independent field audits.
- High integrity and attention to detail.

Pay: Rs90,000.00 - Rs100,000.00 per month
