Assistant Manager - Mechanic shop

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Assistant Manager to lead our automotive mechanic shop with energy and expertise. In this role, you help will oversee daily operations, ensure top-quality vehicle repairs, and deliver exceptional customer service. Your leadership will drive the team to achieve operational excellence, maximize service opportunities through upselling, and uphold the highest standards of automotive diagnostics and repair. Duties

• Supervise daily shop operations, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality vehicle repairs
• Lead and motivate a team of skilled mechanics and technicians, fostering a positive and productive work environment
• Manage customer interactions by providing expert advice on vehicle maintenance, repairs, and service options
• Oversee service writing, auto estimating, and ensure accurate documentation of repairs and costs
• Identify opportunities for upselling additional services such as oil changes, alignments, tire services, brake repairs, suspension work, and transmission repairs
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean, organized shop environment
• Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain proper records of all financial dealings
• Coordinate with parts suppliers to ensure timely availability of necessary components for repairs

Qualifications

• Proven dealership experience or extensive auto service management background
• Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on mechanic experience in automotive diagnostics and repair
• Expertise in automotive systems including transmissions, oil changes, auto body repair, air brakes, alignment, shocks & struts, tire service, diesel engine repair, and brake repair
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients
• Experience in auto estimating, service writing, and automotive sales techniques
• Ability to upsell services effectively while maintaining customer trust and satisfaction
• Familiarity with automotive repair software and auto estimating tools is preferred
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team efficiently in a fast-paced environment
