Position Summary

The Assistant Manager – NEMT Operations (Coastal Regions) is a part-time leadership role designed to support daily operations, assist in driver management, and ensure service reliability within the assigned market. This position is built as a developmental pathway into a Regional Manager role, providing hands-on experience in operations, compliance, and team leadership.

This is a hybrid role, requiring the ability to support dispatch/operations while also maintaining availability to operate as a driver when needed to ensure full-service coverage.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Driver Support & Coverage

• Operate as an active NEMT driver when needed to support coverage gaps
• Ensure safe, timely, and compliant transport of clients
• Maintain all driver qualifications, certifications, and vehicle standards

Driver Oversight & Support

• Assist in supervising drivers within the assigned area’s
• Reinforce adherence to schedules, attendance expectations, and company policies
• Provide real-time support to drivers during shifts (questions, issues, emergencies)
• Support coaching and performance improvement efforts

Dispatch & Operational Support

• Assist with dispatch operations, including scheduling and trip coordination
• Support route adjustments and coverage planning in real time
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, drivers, and leadership
• Step in during high-volume periods or staffing shortages

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure adherence to all NEMT, DOT, and company compliance requirements
• Support monitoring of driver certifications, logs, and safety protocols
• Report incidents, safety concerns, and operational risks promptly

Performance & Accountability Support

• Assist in monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), including:
• On-time performance
• Missed trips
• Attendance and reliability
• Support corrective actions and follow-up as directed by leadership

Customer Service & Issue Resolution

• Assist in addressing service complaints and operational concerns
• Maintain a professional, solution-oriented approach in all interactions
• Escalate issues appropriately when necessary

Administrative Support

• Maintain accurate documentation related to drivers, incidents, and operations
• Assist with onboarding and training of new drivers
• Support communication of SOPs and operational updates
• Assist in maintain compliance in the region depot’s.
• Assist in building well-organized operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1–3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, or related field preferred
• Prior leadership or lead experience strongly preferred
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to meet all NEMT driver requirements and certifications
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within NEMT operations
• Familiarity with dispatch systems and route coordination
• Interest in leadership growth and operational management

Compensation

• Hourly Rate: $23–$26/hour
• Overtime paid in accordance with California law
• Potential eligibility for performance-based incentives

Working Conditions

• Part-time schedule with flexibility based on operational needs
• Must be available for:
• Early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends
• Hybrid role requiring both:
• Office/ Manager work
• Field driving responsibilities
• Travel within the assigned Coastal territories as needed

The Assistant Manager / NEMT Driver – Coastal Operations position requires the ability to:

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
