Job Summary

The Assistant Manager – Transport is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and management of transportation operations to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective movement of goods and personnel. The role focuses on fleet management, route planning, compliance, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement of transport efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport Operations
  • Assist in planning and overseeing daily transport operations and vehicle deployment
  • Ensure timely delivery and pickup schedules are met
  • Monitor route optimization to reduce cost, time, and fuel consumption
  • Fleet & Asset Management
  • Manage company-owned and third-party vehicles
  • Ensure regular vehicle maintenance, fitness, insurance, and documentation
  • Track vehicle utilization, breakdowns, and repairs
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with transport laws, permits, and regulatory requirements
  • Enforce safety standards for drivers and vehicles
  • Conduct driver briefings and monitor adherence to safety protocols
  • Vendor & Driver Management
  • Coordinate with transport vendors and negotiate rates where required
  • Supervise drivers, helpers, and transport staff
  • Monitor driver performance, attendance, behaviour, and fuel usage
  • Cost Control & Reporting
  • Control transportation costs and fuel expenses
  • Analyse transport data and prepare MIS reports
  • Support budgeting and cost-optimization initiatives
  • Coordination & Communication
  • Coordinate with warehouse, dispatch, procurement, and customer service teams
  • Resolve operational issues, delays, and escalations
  • Support audits and internal reviews related to transport operations
  • Key Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of transport and logistics operations
  • Fleet management and route planning skills
  • Understanding of transport compliance and safety regulations
  • Vendor and people management skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, transport software, or ERP systems

Qualifications:

  • Any Bachelor’s degree
  • Certification in logistics or transport management (Optional)

Experience:

  • 4–7 years of experience in transport or logistics operations
  • Experience managing fleets, drivers, and vendors preferred

  • On-time delivery performance

  • Driver performance and fuel efficiency

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
