Assistant Montessori (Preschool) Teacher

Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards such as Montessori or other early childhood education frameworks.
  • Support classroom management by maintaining a positive, structured environment conducive to learning and development.
  • Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote literacy education, numeracy skills, social interactions, and emotional regulation.
  • Help facilitate activities designed for toddler care, preschoolers, and children with special needs or disabilities, including those with autism or behavioral challenges.
  • Support classroom organization by preparing materials, setting up learning centers, and ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met.
  • Observe and document individual child progress, behaviors, and developmental milestones to inform ongoing instruction and parent communication.
  • Foster inclusive practices by working effectively with children from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum enhancements that support early childhood development goals.
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children's progress, behavior, and classroom activities.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development related to childhood education techniques such as behavior management, literacy strategies, math instruction, and daycare best practices.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working with children in daycare settings or preschool environments is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles including childhood development theories and classroom management techniques.
  • Familiarity with special education needs and working with children with disabilities or autism is advantageous.
  • Experience with curriculum development focused on literacy education, math skills, and holistic child growth.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and engage families.
  • Ability to assist in lesson planning tailored to diverse learning styles and developmental levels.
  • Demonstrated patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for working with young children.
  • Certification or training in childcare or early childhood education is a plus; ongoing professional growth is encouraged.
