Assistant Preschool Teacher

We are looking for a mindful and responsible Assistant Preschool Teacher to work full-time in our beautiful, inclusive, and vibrant preschool. Under the guidance of our Lead Teachers, our Preschool classrooms use the Montessori philosophy as a framework to create an intentional, warm, and respectful care and learning environment for young children.

The schedule for this position would be 7am-3pm with the option to work till 4pm for an extra hour).

For full time employees, we provide a comprehensive benefits package (medical dental, vision), an unlimited bus pass for ~$20 a month, and several paid holidays a year, including but not limited to: a week off in the Spring, a week off in Summer, and a week off in Winter. Holiday pay will kick in immediately upon hire, and closure pay after 90 days.

Responsibilities may include:

• Intentional warm interactions with children, coworkers, and families.
• Portioning and serving meals.
• Observing child interactions.
• Helping children navigate difficult situations, and developing social/emotional skills.
• Working with the afternoon coordinator to create enriching activities and experiences for children in the afternoon.
• Fluid communication with coworkers regularly throughout the day.
• Carry out all preparation and clean up responsibilities associated with role.
• Being flexible and able to respond to things quickly and in a calm manner.

Qualifications:

• Ability to get up and down off the floor repeatedly throughout the day.
• High School diploma required.
• One or more years classroom experience is required.
• Experience with young children required.
• Infant/Child & Adult CPR and First Aid (We can help with this, but needed ASAP.)
• 30 hour Child Care Basics (completed within 90 days of hire)
• DCYF Portable Background check (started prior to start date)
• Infant Safe Sleep training. (completed prior to start date)
• TB test (completed prior to start date)
• Proof of MMR vaccine.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.50 - $23.00 per hour
