Assistant Professor, Cybersecurity

The Cybersecurity program is seeking candidates for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on experience. Faculty appointments are for a ten-month period and the standard teaching load is twelve credt hours per semester.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching introductory and advanced courses in cybersecurity.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses (in person and online).
  • Teach courses outside of Cybersecurity, in support of the Hilbert College Blueprint sequence.
  • Engage in academic assessment (course and program assessmsnet) and Divisional Curricular Planning.
  • Participate in service activities, supporting the Division of Professional Studies and Hilbert College (including service on commitees).
  • Assist Division Chairperson with creating course schedules and evaluating/hiring Adjuncts.
  • Serve as primary advisor for the Cybersecurty program.
  • Opportunity to serve as Cybersecurity Program Coordinator, overseeing Cybersecurity undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline at time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning.
  • Experience teaching in Cybersecurity, or related field, and mentoring undergraduate research.
  • Experience with program and course cevelopment, knowledge of assessment practices.
  • Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction in the field of cybersecurity and netowrking.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer operation systems, computer networks, and computer security.
  • Ability to adapt to current methods of teaching, including online delievery.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships wiht other menbers of the college and community, displaying culutural competence and emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the college's core Franciscan values.
  • All faculty are expected to contribute service within the division, college, and community.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Electrical Enginneering, or a closely related field at time of appointment.
  • 1-3 years teaching experience in higher education.
  • Experience in student advisement.
  • Knowledge of current trends in computers, computer software, computer languages, and related technologies.
  • Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
  • Experience in teaching online and/or using course management programs.
  • Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service.

Appointment/Start Date: August 1, 2026

Compensation: $90,000 - $95,000

This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and organizational needs.
