Assistant professor for Animation

he Assistant Professor in Animation will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in animation and related disciplines, conducting research and creative work, advising students, and contributing to curriculum development. The candidate will bring expertise in both traditional and digital animation techniques, and demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, student engagement, and innovation in visual storytelling.

Key Responsibilities:Teaching (50–60%)

  • Deliver lectures, lead workshops, and conduct practical classes in 2D, 3D animation, motion graphics, storyboarding, visual effects (VFX), character design, and related topics.
  • Develop course materials, syllabi, assignments, and assessment tools aligned with learning outcomes.
  • Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to students on academic and creative work.
  • Stay updated with trends in animation and incorporate emerging tools/software into teaching.

Research and Creative Work (20–30%)

  • Engage in scholarly research, artistic creation, or industry-oriented projects in the field of animation.
  • Publish research papers, exhibit creative work, or present at conferences/festivals.
  • Pursue grants or external funding to support research and institutional initiatives.

Academic Service and Administration (10–20%)

  • Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum planning, and accreditation processes.
  • Serve on academic committees and contribute to institutional development.
  • Support student recruitment, orientation, and outreach activities.
  • Collaborate with industry professionals, studios, and other academic institutions.

Qualifications:Required:

  • Master’s degree (MFA/MA/MDes) in Animation, Digital Arts, Media Arts, or related field.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating professional or creative work in animation.
  • Teaching experience at the college/university level or equivalent industry training experience.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Toon Boom, Maya, Blender, After Effects, etc.

Preferred:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (for tenure-track positions).
  • Experience in online/hybrid teaching environments.
  • Industry experience in film, gaming, television, or multimedia.
  • Knowledge of interdisciplinary practices (e.g., AR/VR, interactive media, game design).
