Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in psychology, which may include general psychology, research methods, statistics, and specialized topics based on expertise (e.g., clinical psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, etc.).
Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and assessments that align with departmental goals and student learning outcomes.
Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, guiding them in academic and career planning.
Supervise student research projects and internships as part of the department’s academic program.
Foster an inclusive and engaging classroom environment that promotes student participation and critical thinking.
Develop and maintain an active, independent research program in psychology, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
Publish research findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences.
Seek external funding opportunities (e.g., grants) to support research activities.
Collaborate with colleagues in the department and across the university on interdisciplinary research projects.
Participate in departmental and university service, including faculty meetings, committee work, and faculty governance.
Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the psychology curriculum.
Engage in professional development activities to stay current with trends and advancements in psychology.
Serve as a resource for students, providing academic guidance and career advice.
Support and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the department.
Ph.D. or equivalent in Psychology or a related field (must be completed by the time of appointment).
Evidence of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.
A well-defined research agenda and evidence of scholarly activity (e.g., publications, presentations, or research grants).
Ability to work collaboratively in an academic environment and to contribute to a culture of inclusion and diversity.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Experience teaching a wide range of psychology courses.
Expertise in a specific area of psychology that complements the department’s existing strengths (e.g., clinical psychology, neuroscience, behavioral psychology, etc.).
Experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
A record of external funding or the potential to secure grants for research.
