Salary: $150K + Benefits


We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading general contractor specializing in public transportation and infrastructure projects throughout the New York metropolitan area. With an established track record delivering complex work for the MTA, Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, and other public agencies, our client is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their growing team.


This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile transit and infrastructure projects while supporting project execution from preconstruction through completion.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of active construction projects.
  • Manage and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
  • Support project scheduling, cost tracking, and budget management.
  • Review plans, specifications, contracts, and technical documents.
  • Attend project meetings and prepare progress reports and meeting minutes.
  • Monitor project compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and agency regulations.
  • Assist with procurement activities and subcontractor management.
  • Support project closeout, punch list completion, and turnover documentation.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 3+ years of experience in heavy civil, transportation, transit, or public infrastructure construction.
  • Experience working on MTA, Port Authority, NYCDDC, NYSDOT, NJ Transit, or similar public agency projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction management principles, project controls, and contract administration.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar software is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
