At SDAC, we are committed to building more than projects—we build careers. Our team members are given the opportunity to work on dynamic, large-scale industrial projects across multiple states while gaining hands-on experience and professional growth.

Position Overview:

The Travel Assistant Project Manager (TAPM) is an hourly, field-intensive role that supports the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing multiple construction sites across various states. This position requires significant travel, with the expectation of relocating temporarily to project locations for extended durations, often lasting several months.

The TAPM plays a critical role in bridging field operations and project management by ensuring alignment with project goals, maintaining schedules and budgets, and supporting Site Superintendents in executing successful projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and resource allocation for multiple construction projects across various geographic locations.
  • Provide direct oversight and support to Site Superintendents to ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and safety standards.
  • Travel extensively to active job sites, including out-of-state assignments requiring extended stays (weeks to months).
  • Conduct on-site inspections to monitor progress, resolve field issues, and ensure compliance with construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Support change order management, cost tracking, and contract administration.
  • Ensure all site personnel and subcontractors comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Review and track permits, licenses, and regulatory compliance documentation across jurisdictions.
  • Assist in identifying project risks and implementing mitigation strategies to prevent delays and cost overruns.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to ensure project execution aligns with company objectives.
  • Prepare and deliver progress reports, financial tracking updates, and status reports to senior management.
  • Coordinate and facilitate communication between engineers, architects, subcontractors, and field teams.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Travel Expectations:

  • This position requires frequent and extended travel to project sites in multiple states.
  • Employees should expect to be temporarily based at remote job sites for extended periods, sometimes lasting several months at a time.
  • Travel schedules may vary depending on project demands and timelines.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in construction project management or site supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial construction processes, materials, and contract administration.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and regulatory codes.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • OSHA 30 certification required; additional safety certifications are a plus.
  • Valid, unencumbered driver’s license required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and stay on-site for extended durations.
