Job Description: Assistant Project Manager
Radius Design is a consulting and design engineering firm specializing in joint trench and dry utility design. We provide in-house electric and gas designs for projects ranging from residential developments to large tech campuses.
The APM supports Project Managers in coordinating with internal teams, utility companies, and developers to keep utility design projects on track. Responsibilities include managing deadlines, maintaining accuracy in documentation, and ensuring no details are missed. APMs assists multiple PMs in their project by preparing construction drawings, specifications, and other deliverables for electric and gas service designs across residential, mixed-use, and commercial projects.
This role is fast-paced and detail-driven, ideal for someone eager to take ownership and grow into a Project Manager Role.
What You'll Do
- Possess a deep understanding of utility processes, project scopes, technical documentation, and key milestones.
- Ensure all information (project confirmations, status updates, schedules) remains accurate, up to date, and readily available to support project managers effectively.
- Drive schedules by coordinating meetings, site walks, and communication with clients, utilities, and internal teams to eliminate delays.
- Maintain frequent and proactive communication with clients, build strong working relationships.
- Earn client trust through responsiveness, professionalism, and consistent follow-through.
- Maintain proactive and transparent communication with Project Managers (PMs) to keep them informed of client requests, deadlines, and action items.
- Gather critical information from internal teams and external consultants to hit fast-moving deadlines.
- Work side-by-side with PMs to develop project strategies that deliver on time
- Ensure all utility designs meet agency codes, utility standards, and client expectations.
- Track project documents, updates, and deliverables with precision. Ensuring that all documentations are saved accurately into the server.
- Assist PMs in prepping for pre-construction meetings and attend site visits with confidence and clarity of the project.
- Regularly perform quality assurance reviews of project drawings
- Work internally to schedule design tasks and provide required information to our in-house engineers
- Respond to RFIs, submittals, and construction issues with speed and accuracy
- Always on the lookout for ways processes can be improved to increase efficiency

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture required
- A minimum 0-2 years of experience as an assistant project manager or project coordinator for an engineering firm, utility company, or equivalent
- Field experience in the construction of utilities a plus
- EIT certification preferred
- Proficient in AutoCAD 2014 and up
- Skilled use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
