Assistant Property Manager - Multifamily

Responsibilities

  • Assist in leasing activities, including property tours, applicant screening, and lease signings, with a focus on upselling available units and amenities
  • Support rent collection processes, including data entry, filing of financial documents, and managing delinquency follow-ups
  • Coordinate property maintenance requests by liaising with vendors and maintenance teams to ensure timely resolution and resident satisfaction
  • Maintain accurate records using property management software such as Yardi or OneSite, including lease files, legal documents, and compliance paperwork
  • Help enforce Fair Housing regulations, Section 8 guidelines, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) requirements, and other legal standards to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Manage conflict resolution between residents or staff by applying effective conflict management strategies and negotiation skills
  • Conduct regular property inspections to monitor cleanliness, safety standards, and overall property condition; assist with facilities management tasks as needed

Requirements

  • Prior experience in real estate administrative roles or property management support functions
  • Knowledge of landlord-tenant law, Fair Housing regulations, Section 8 programs, and LIHTC compliance standards
  • Proficiency with property management software such as Yardi or OneSite; familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is a plus
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent phone etiquette and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle conflict professionally while maintaining positive resident relationships
  • Office experience involving data entry, filing, contracts review, and legal administrative tasks
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent negotiation skills for lease renewals and upselling opportunities; experience in sales is advantageous
  • Facilities management knowledge including basic property maintenance oversight and vendor coordination
