Technical Support Specialist

POSITION: Technical Support Specialist


DEPARTMENT: Technology Services


Responsibilities:

Supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots hardware and software problems with computer systems. Provides day-to-day support to end-users as well as installation and maintenance of hardware and software.


Competencies for Successful Performance of Job Duties

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and applications.
  • Considerable knowledge of deployed hardware and software.
  • Considerable knowledge of LANs, WANs, and their potential applications, network operating systems, hardware, and software.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to grasp new concepts and terminology quickly; interpret problems and use good judgment to determine effective solutions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, County officials, and others; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to work in stressful situations.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Formal Education and Experience

  • 6 months+ training beyond High School
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience
