JOB TITLE: Assistant QC Lab Technician
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
PRIMARY PURPOSE: We are seeking a dependable Assistant QC Lab Technician who is detail-oriented and possesses the physical and mental stamina this role requires. In this role, you will be responsible for critical QC laboratory testing and processing.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
· Food Safety regulations will be always followed, including personal hygiene requirements.
· Fill out all required forms that are to be used for daily production.
· Product Testing
o A. Test products at required intervals for, TA, Ozone, TDS, Turbidity, Brix, Carbonation, TOA, net content, Check Coder, Rinser, 48-hour test, comparison samples, CO2 settings, and enter data into forms and computer.
o B. Make proper adjustments when needed.
· Required testing for torque, pressure, and closure inspection shall be done at proper intervals.
· Flavor cutoffs/changeovers.
o A. Learn and execute proper cutoffs with and without bottle cutoffs.
o B. Perform 1,3,5-step flavor changeovers using SOP when needed.
· Collect samples as needed A. Pull and test samples as needed, fill out test log and package and ship as needed.
· Water Plant Testing. Responsible for testing UV light operation, Ozonation testing for still water
· Microbiological Testing.
o A. Obtain all the samples that are needed and plate them on a weekly basis in accordance with requirements. See Micro Testing Matrix.
o B. Report findings on a regular basis to FST Leader.
· Calibration Checks
o A. Calibration for scales, thermometers, pressure gauges, turbidity meter, and all lab equipment should be done on schedule (refer to calibration frequency form).
o B. Fill tech should be properly set up before each run and dialed in for product being ran.
o C. Date code should be set for package being run and date should match that of Coke’s requirements.
· CO2 Testing
o A. Follow CO2 receiving procedure when unloading CO2.
o B. Receive and date tanks of Ni delivered from General Dist.
· Equipment Programming
o A. Program all equipment to standards set by Customer or regulations before use. This includes date coders, fill tech, timers, and other equipment.
· Monitor and conduct daily CIP operations, daily tank and filler checks for proper use and sanitation on gaskets, valves, caps, screens, pumps, and hoses.
· Batching products for run. Ensure all equipment used for batching is sanitized before use. All food safety procedures are followed during batching. Recording lot numbers during the batching process.
· Inventory on all ingredients, making sure ingredients are being stored properly.
· Be able to operate machinery during production time as needed. Perform GMP walk arounds.
· Additional Functions: May perform portions of the work at higher levels occasionally as well as other functions, as assigned
MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS: Able to operate and control equipment. Basic computer application skills to enter and interface with equipment.
Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Experience: At least 1 year of related experience
SKILL/ABILITIES:
● Must be able to communicate effectively and have interpersonal skills.
● Must be able to follow verbal and written directives.
● Must be able to read, write, have basic math skills, and input electronic data.
● Must have the ability to ability to effectively solve on-site problems.
● Must be able to lift, carry, push heavy products.
