Assistant Resident Care Coordinator

JOB TITLE: Assistant Resident Care Coordinator (Non-exempt)

REPORTS TO: Resident Care Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant RCC is responsible for medications, treatments and resident care duties as assigned by the Resident Care Coordinator or Administrator. This position administers medications according to acceptable standards. The Assistant RCC engages in the practice of Nursing within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act under the guidance and delegation of a licensed Registered Nurse.

If appropriate, answers questions of residents and their family members. Insures that the medication area is kept clean. The Assistant RCC is responsible to ensure that the next shift has a responsible and qualified staff member on duty to administer resident medications. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Adheres to and conveys facility’s philosophy of maintaining elements of self-care and encouraging independence.

· Takes report from outgoing Medication Lead.

· Gives report to oncoming Medication Lead.

· Fills out Incident Report for resident and/or personnel when an incident occurs on shift.

· Takes and records vital signs as ordered and otherwise when necessary, or as instructed by physician or facility Resident Care Coordinator, or Administrator

· Administers medication and treatments as assigned within the scope of practice.

· Maintains accurate, complete and confidential resident medication and care records, according to established procedure.

· Notifies the Resident Care Coordinator or Administrator immediately when a resident becomes severely ill or injured.

· Keeps Med carts orderly, clean and appropriately stocked.

· Notifies the Resident Care Coordinator at once if noting any adverse reaction of medication on resident, or awareness of medication error.

· Observes and communicates to the Resident Care Coordinator any changes in resident physical or mental status.

· Communicates as needed with doctors, families, and other appropriate parties concerning resident status, changes in status, need for appointment, etc.

· Passes morning, afternoon, and evening nourishment/medications, staying with each resident until the nourishment/medication is consumed, then charts appropriately.

· As appropriate, provides leadership to other shift personnel.

· Remains calm during emergencies.

· Assists in all care of residents, as needed. This includes occasional lifting requirements of equal to or greater than 50 pounds.

· Maintains noise level at all times.

· Assists in dining room.

· Reports all needed repairs to Maintenance.

· Demonstrates knowledge of infection control, i.e. adequate hand washing.

· Maintains upkeep and cleanliness of med carts and medication room.

· Responsible for recording and/or restocking of medications from pharmacy after receiving proper instructions. Responsible for locking and storing narcotics until turned over to pharmacy.

· Responsible for ordering cycle fill medications.

· Assists with transfer and/or transportation arrangements.

· Responsible for gathering and recording I & O’s.

· Assists in other nursing duties as appropriate and as assigned by RN or Administrator.

· Responsible for ordering new and routine medications as ordered by physician.

· Rotate being on-call with RCC for staffing purposes- Cell phone provided

· Be part of Care Plan meetings

· Learn Duties of RCC

QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:

· Age 18 years or older

· Enjoys working with the elderly

· Must deal with public, visitors and residents in a tactful manner.

· Able to handle complaints graciously

· Dependable

· Able to follow directions

· Completed First Aid Certification

· Must be patience, cheerful and enthusiastic

· Well groomed

· Frequent lifting requirement of less than or equal to 20 pounds, occasional lifting requirement of greater than or equal to 50 pounds.

EDUCATION:

Currently trained as a Medication Lead.

EXPERIENCE:

Six months on-the-job experience as a Medication Lead and prior Supervisory experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
