Job Title: Assistant Sales Trader – Commodities
Department: Trading / Commercial
Job Summary:
The Sales Trader (Commodities) is responsible for managing and expanding the company’s trading activities by maintaining strong relationships with clients and suppliers, executing commodity trades, and identifying new business opportunities. The role requires a strong understanding of international commodity markets, pricing trends, logistics, and contract execution, with a focus on maximizing profitability while ensuring smooth trade flow from negotiation to delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients, suppliers, and trading partners.
Negotiate and execute sales and purchase contracts for commodities (e.g., sugar, oils, grains, or other agricultural products).
Monitor market developments, global supply-demand trends, and price movements to identify trading opportunities.
Coordinate with logistics, documentation, and finance teams to ensure accurate and timely shipment and payment execution.
Prepare and update daily/weekly market reports and price indications for clients.
Support the development of new markets and product lines in line with company growth strategies.
Manage trade positions, monitor exposures, and report profit and loss performance.
Maintain compliance with internal trading policies, risk limits, and international trade regulations (e.g., Incoterms, LC documentation).
Provide after-sales support and resolve any commercial or logistical issues with clients.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Trade, Economics, or related field.
Minimum 2–5 years of experience in commodity trading or sales (preferably in sugar, grains, or edible oils) in GCC and Africa.
Strong commercial acumen with good knowledge of global commodity markets.
Proven track record of managing client accounts and achieving trading targets.
Understanding of international trade terms, shipping, and payment instruments (e.g., Letters of Credit).
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in MS Office; experience with ERP/trading systems is an advantage.
Fluency in English; additional languages (e.g., Arabic, Russian, French) are an asset.
Candidates with transferable Visa in UAE preferred.
