Assistant Shipping Manager

About Us:
We are a fast-moving company with a small, tight-knit shipping/receiving team. We ship domestically and internationally via UPS, FedEx, and LTL freight carriers. We’re looking for a versatile Assistant Shipping Manager to support operations, take ownership of inventory and job costing, and grow into a leadership role.

You will ensure smooth shipping and receiving operations, maintain accurate inventory, and support job costing processes while working closely with our current manager. This is a strategic succession opportunity and the right candidate will be prepared to move up quickly in our company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist/supervise all aspects of shipping department: shipping, receiving and inventory management.
• Prepare and manage all aspects of outbound domestic and international shipments via UPS, FedEx, and LTL freight carriers.
• Receive, inspect, and process incoming goods; maintain accurate inventory records.
• Track shipping, receiving, and material costs for job costing accuracy.
• Document procedures and cross-train to ensure continuity of operations.
• Provide support to department staff and coordinate daily logistics tasks.
• Identify process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of shipping, receiving, or logistics experience, including domestic and international freight.
• Experience with inventory control and job costing systems.
• Strong system set up skills, organizational and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Leadership potential and willingness to step into a supervisory role.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in small or growing company environments.
• Knowledge of specialized handling for hardware or high-value products.
• Familiarity with international shipping regulations and customs documentation.
