Assistant Store Manager

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting store operations, supervising staff, and ensuring excellent customer service. Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures
  • Supervise and motivate team members to achieve sales targets and deliver outstanding customer service
  • Oversee inventory management, stock replenishment, and merchandising to optimize product presentation
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns with professionalism and effective communication skills
  • Support recruiting efforts through interviewing and onboarding new employees
  • Manage payroll, cash handling, and bookkeeping tasks accurately
  • Implement sales strategies, pricing adjustments, and promotional activities to increase store revenue
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and health regulations
  • Coordinate marketing initiatives and community engagement efforts to enhance store visibility
  • Train staff on POS systems, cashiering procedures, and product knowledge
  • Assist in budgeting, inventory control, and store performance analysis to meet business objectives

Skills

  • Strong leadership with previous assistant manager or supervisory experience in retail or grocery stores
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems, POS technology, and retail math
  • Skilled in negotiation, sales management, merchandising, and marketing strategies
  • Effective time management with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail in stock control, pricing, and administrative duties
  • Ability to train and develop team members while fostering a positive work environment
  • Sound knowledge of budgeting, payroll processing, bookkeeping, and cash handling procedures
  • Customer service-oriented mindset with phone etiquette and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff across shifts while maintaining operational efficiency
