Assistant Superintendent / Field Engineer – Civil Concrete

Position Scope

The Assistant Superintendent / Field Engineer supports field operations for civil concrete projects, helping coordinate crews, equipment, subcontractors, and materials to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. This role works closely with the Superintendent and project team to drive daily production.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing daily job site operations and crew activities
  • Read and execute construction plans and specifications
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Estimators, and Operations teams
  • Support labor planning, scheduling, and site mobilization
  • Assist with layout, forming, pouring, and finishing of concrete flatwork
  • Monitor productivity, quality, and safety compliance (OSHA)
  • Help identify and resolve field issues in a timely manner
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, and site logistics
  • Scheduling and monitoring subcontractor progress


Education and Work Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in concrete or civil construction
  • Experience as a Concrete Finisher, Laborer, or Crew Lead preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Familiarity with concrete construction methods and equipment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Problem-solving ability and sound judgment in the field
  • Ability to follow direction and take initiative
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Primavera or Microsoft Project Desired


Work Environment

  • 100% travel within Texas – 10/5 schedule
  • Primarily outdoors on active construction sites
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (50–100 lbs)
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions
