Plato+ | The Carey School, San Mateo, CA Part-Time | Thursdays, 4:30–5:30 PM (with potential to add a 5:30–6:30 PM session) $45/hour

Plato+ is a premium tutoring and enrichment company partnering with top schools across Silicon Valley. We're looking for an Assistant Teacher to join our Design Lab program at The Carey School, a hands-on art and design enrichment class for K-5 students.

Each week, students work on creative projects like building miniature rooms, designing custom sneakers, creating personal logos, and more. As the Assistant Teacher, you'll support the lead instructor, help kids bring their ideas to life, manage materials, and make sure every student feels encouraged and supported.

What you'll do:

Work alongside the lead teacher to guide students through weekly art and design projects. Help kids problem-solve, experiment with materials, and build confidence in their creative abilities. Prepare and organize project materials before each session. Create a warm, positive environment where every kid feels welcome. Adapt support for a wide age range, from kindergartners to fifth graders.

What we're looking for:

Experience working with children is essential. Whether that's teaching, tutoring, camp counseling, coaching, or babysitting, you need to be comfortable and natural with kids ages 5-11. An art, design, or creative background is a strong plus. You don't need to be a professional artist, but you should be someone who enjoys making things and can guide kids through creative projects with patience and enthusiasm. Reliable and consistent. We need someone who shows up on time, every Thursday, ready to go. Warm, patient, and genuinely excited about helping kids create.

A teaching credential is not required, though education experience is always valued.
