About Us: Sardine, a lively bistro on the shores of Lake Monona in Madison, Wisconsin, is looking for a dedicated Assistant to the Manager/Lead Host to become a valued member of our team. John Gadau and Phillip Hurley, chefs and owners of Sardine and co-founders of Gates & Brovi and Marigold Kitchen welcome you.

Position: Assistant to the Manager/Lead Host

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour

What You'll Do:

Assistant to the Manager/Lead Host: Assist our management team in coordinating front-of-house operations to deliver a seamless guest experience and uphold Sardine’s high service standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and seat guests while managing reservations and waitlists.
  • Maintain a clean and organized dining area.
  • Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to deliver excellent service.
  • Address guest inquiries and concerns professionally and positively.

Requirements:

  • Host stand experience
  • Restaurant experience
  • Familiarity with POS systems
  • Professional and friendly demeanor
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Hospitality or hotel experience is a plus

Scheduling Requirements:

  • 4 shift minimum with the ability to pick up
  • Evening and weekend availability

Additional Information: The Assistant to the Manager/Lead Host will undergo a paid training period starting at hire, with the expectation of full readiness by the first weekend in May.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
