Job Overview
Amathus Drinks Plc, a family owned business is seeking a dedicated and proactive Assistant Transport Manager to reporting to the Transport Manager in overseeing our transport operations. The role involves supervising a fleet of 10 lorries and 2 vans, conducting multi-drop deliveries throughout London and the surrounding regions to the hospitality sector, and our own retail outlets.

Working Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday. Office opening hours 06:30 to 18:30
Job Purpose:
To assist the Transport Manager in overseeing the smooth, cost-effective, and compliant operation of the transport team delivering beverage products to hospitality clients. This role ensures that all transport operations support customer satisfaction, legal compliance, and business efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:1. Daily Operations & Route Management
- Assist in planning and optimising delivery routes in London and the surrounding regions.
- Monitor daily schedules to ensure timely deliveries to hospitality clients.
- Liaise with warehouse, sales, and customer service teams to ensure delivery requirements are met.
- Handle last-minute changes, reroutes, and urgent delivery issues effectively.
2. Fleet Management
- Support the upkeep, inspection, compliance and servicing schedule of company vehicles.
- Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy, taxed, and MOT compliant.
- Monitor fuel usage and manage fuel cards.
- Keep accurate vehicle logs and documentation.
3. Driver Management
- Assist in managing and supporting a team of drivers and drivers mates.
- Help organize driver rotas, shifts, holidays, and sickness cover.
- Ensure drivers adhere to legal regulations, including driver hours and tachograph compliance.
- Conduct occasional spot checks and assist with driver assessments or training.
4. Compliance & Health and Safety
- Support compliance with all transport-related legislation including:
- Driver CPC
- Working Time Directive
- Vehicle and operator licensing
- Maintain accurate records for audits and inspections (DVSA, internal, etc.).
- Assist in implementing and enforcing Health and Safety standards for drivers, drivers mates and vehicles.
5. Customer Service & Problem Solving
- Act as a point of contact for transport-related customer queries.
- Resolve delivery issues swiftly and professionally.
- Support the Transport Manager in tracking service levels and improving delivery performance.
6. Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate transport logs, delivery reports, and incident records.
- Maintain accurate transport records and generate reports using excel.
Required Skills & Experience
- Valid Class 2 HGV Licence (minimum requirement).
- Proven experience in a transport or logistics environment, ideally within a multi-drop setting.
- Good knowledge and experience of route and load planning across London and the surrounding regions.
- Competent computer literacy with a focus on Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Fluent in English with outstanding communication skills for effective interaction with clients and colleagues and a team player who also can work independently.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities to guide team efforts towards common goals.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Flexible and adaptable to changing operational needs.
