Assistant Treasurer/Collector

The Town of Brewster seeks a qualified and collaborative professional to serve as its next Assistant Treasurer/Collector. This position performs administrative and financial work to assist in overseeing municipal funds, revenue collection, payroll, and cash flow to ensure the Town's long-term financial stability.

Under the administrative direction of the Treasurer/Collector, the Assistant Treasurer/Collector oversees and coordinates the collections process, including but not limited to real estate, excise, and personal property taxes. Assists the Treasurer/Collector with banking relationships and the regular reconciliation of bank accounts; reviews payable; approves payments and initiates wire transfers. Reviews payroll bills for accuracy and approves payment. Responsible for processing payroll in the absence of the Payroll & Benefits Coordinator

Associate’s degree in business, accounting or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred. A minimum of three years of accounting, business, or related work experience, municipal experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge of Munis software is a plus. Must have and maintain the integrity to obtain surety bonding. This is a full-time, 35 hour a week position, covered under the OPEIU Agreement, with a starting pay rate of $32.34 - $39.77 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
