The Assistant Vice President & Executive Producer of Cinematic Video Production leads the strategic vision, creative direction, and operational execution of high-impact video storytelling for the College's highest priority video production, under the leadership of the Marketing & Communications function. The AVP & Executive Producer oversees the development and production of cinematic-quality video content that advances institutional brand, enrollment, reputation, fundraising, reputation and engagement goals. Serving as both a creative leader and executive-level strategist, the AVP & Executive Producer manages a portfolio of video initiatives from flagship brand films and campaign launches to digital content series and presidential communications, ensuring all productions meet the highest standards of storytelling, visual excellence, and institutional alignment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIESStrategic Leadership-
Develop and lead a comprehensive cinematic video strategy aligned with institutional marketing, enrollment, advancement, and brand objectives.

Serve as senior creative advisor to divisional and college leadership on visual storytelling and content direction.

Partner with senior administrators, academic leaders, and the college's enrollment and institutional advancement teams to identify high-impact storytelling opportunities.
Translate institutional priorities into compelling visual narratives that resonate with prospective students, families, alumni, donors, and key stakeholders.
Creative Direction & Production Oversight-
Oversee all phases of video production: concept development, scripting, budgeting, scheduling, filming, post-production, and distribution.

Set and maintain cinematic standards for visual identity, tone, and storytelling across all video content.

Approve creative briefs, scripts, treatments, and final edits to ensure alignment with brand and strategic goals.

Direct or supervise large-scale productions, including campaign films, broadcast-quality marketing, and documentary-style features.

Ensure accessibility compliance (captioning, audio description where appropriate) and platform optimization.

Provide creative oversight and input to all campus promotional video production, including production units and areas not under their direct oversight.
Team Leadership & Talent Management-
Lead and mentor an in-house video production team, including producers, directors, cinematographers, editors, and students.

Foster a collaborative, innovative and creative production culture.
Project & Budget Management-
Develop and manage annual production budgets.

Prioritize and allocate resources based on institutional impact and return on investment.

Implement efficient production workflows and scalable systems.

Manage production timelines and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of projects.

Oversee freelance crews, agencies, and production vendors; negotiate contracts and manage performance expectations.
Brand Stewardship & Innovation-
Champion cinematic storytelling that elevates the College's brand and reputation.

Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and distribution platforms.

Introduce innovative approaches in narrative structure, visual techniques, and digital content formats.

Measure performance metrics and audience engagement to inform future strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.

Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, or related field required. MFA preferred.

8-10+ years of progressive experience in professional video production, including leadership experience required.

10-15 years of demonstrated experience producing high-quality, cinematic video content at a brand, agency, production company, or media organization required.

Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations, preferred.

This role may require occasional evening and weekend work to support production schedules and campus events. Travel may be required for off-site shoots.
