Assistant Yard Manager (Part-Time)

Regal Oil Inc. is seeking a dependable, hands-on Assistant Yard Manager to support daily yard, warehouse, and facility operations at our San Angelo location. This part-time role reports directly to the Fleet & Operations/Yard Supervisor and serves as the on-site lead whenever the Supervisor is off-site or unavailable.

This position is essential to keeping the yard running safely, efficiently, and smoothly. Flexibility and reliable coordination with the Supervisor and dispatch are required to ensure yard coverage at all times.

Primary Responsibilities Yard & Facility Operations

Support the Fleet & Operations/Yard Supervisor with all daily yard tasks.

Maintain the yard, warehouse, fuel dock, and cardlock areas to company safety and cleanliness standards.

Perform basic maintenance: cleaning, painting, pressure washing, weed control, and product refilling.

Assist with fuel dock/cardlock upkeep, minor repairs, and equipment checks.

Assemble, plumb, and prepare tanks, pumps, and equipment for installation or delivery.

Support tank/equipment installation, removal, and repair tasks.

Monitor and report issues involving yard lighting, gates, security, and facility equipment.

Operational Support & Coverage

Serve as yard lead when the Supervisor is out on deliveries, installations, or inspections.

Coordinate daily schedule with Supervisor and dispatch to guarantee uninterrupted coverage.

Open and close the yard, offices, and access gate as scheduled.

Stage equipment, organize inventory, and prepare products for deliveries and projects.

Assist with documentation, maintenance logs, and equipment records.

Deliveries & Material Handling

Support tank/equipment delivery runs and transport warehouse products to customers when needed.

Load and unload trucks, equipment, and packaged goods safely and accurately.

Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and yard equipment (training available).

Ensure correct staging for upcoming deliveries and projects.

Inside Sales & Customer Support

Assist walk-in yard and dock customers by learning the sales/order entry system.

Process inside sales orders and load customer vehicles as needed.

Provide basic product knowledge once trained.

Enter delivery tickets, prep paperwork, and assist office staff when needed.

Inventory Responsibilities

Perform daily fuel inventory readings for yard tanks and report to office personnel.

Assist with monthly warehouse inventory counts for oils, lubricants, equipment, and packaged goods.

Keep stock areas organized and notify Supervisor of low inventory or shortages.

Safety & Compliance

Follow and enforce all company safety regulations.

Maintain a clean, hazard-free yard environment.

Use required PPE and ensure others follow proper safety practices.

Qualifications & Expectations

Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Forklift or yard equipment experience (or willingness to train).

Basic mechanical or plumbing skills preferred.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with limited supervision.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Yard Manager to oversee daily operations within our logistics and warehouse environment. This role involves supporting supply chain processes, managing inventory, coordinating transportation, and ensuring efficient warehouse distribution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics management, process improvement, and warehouse operations, contributing to the seamless flow of materials and products across our supply chain network.

Duties

  • Assist in managing inventory control, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems such as AS400.
  • Coordinate shipping & receiving activities, including order fulfillment, picking & packing, and freight management.
  • Support transportation planning and fleet management to optimize delivery schedules and routes.
  • Oversee warehouse distribution processes, including materials handling, packaging, and category management.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams on sourcing and purchasing activities to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency across supply chain functions.
  • Manage warehouse operations related to demand planning, pricing strategies, and demand forecasting.
  • Supervise warehouse staff involved in dispatching, order picking, forklift operation, and materials management.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Assist in managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers and NVOCC operations as needed.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management, logistics, and warehouse distribution systems.
  • Experience with inventory management, inventory control, and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS), transportation planning, and freight coordination.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as AS400 or similar platforms for operations management.
  • Skills in procurement, sourcing, demand planning, and category management.
  • Data analysis skills for supply chain analytics and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and handle materials efficiently within a warehouse setting.
  • Experience with shipping & receiving procedures, order fulfillment, dispatching, and materials handling.
  • Knowledge of e-commerce logistics, packaging standards, and freight forwarding (including 3PL).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
