Job Description
The Department of Integrative Agriculture at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor position in Meat Science. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong record of teaching and research in meat science, with particular emphasis on meat quality, muscle biology, postmortem metabolism, and meat processing and preservation technologies. The candidate should have proven experience in supervising undergraduate and graduate research projects and theses related to meat production, processing, and quality evaluation. The appointee will actively contribute to teaching, research, and community service, in alignment with the University’s mission. Teaching responsibilities include delivering lectures and practical sessions in meat science, meat technology, and related animal science courses, as well as developing innovative, hands-on learning approaches to strengthen student competencies in meat production and quality assurance. The successful candidate is also expected to collaborate with faculty and students across the animal science program, contribute to curriculum development, and pursue interdisciplinary research aimed at improving meat quality, safety, and sustainability in the UAE and the broader region. Applicants should demonstrate both theoretical expertise and practical experience in meat science, employing diverse and student-centered teaching methodologies.
Minimum Qualification
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Meat Science, Animal Science, or a closely related discipline from a recognized international university and should have postdoctoral research experience in meat science or related fields.
Preferred Qualification
- Commitment to maintaining high standards in teaching (in English) and in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. • Demonstrated dedication to promoting diversity and a proven ability to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary research and teaching within the field of animal and poultry sciences. • Established record of scholarly publications in reputable journals related to meat science and muscle biology. • Teaching experience in areas relevant to meat quality, processing, and product development. • Proven ability to secure internal and external research funding through competitive grants.
