Position Summary:
A full-time, nine-month tenure-track open rank position, Assistant to Professor of Nursing, for classroom and clinical undergraduate teaching. This position will be divided between the Experiential Clinical Learning Coordinator role and teaching responsibilities.
Under the direction of the Department Head of Nursing, the Nursing Experiential Clinical Learning Coordinator and Assistant/Associate or Professor of Nursing plays a key role in advancing the College of Education and Health's mission to prepare collaborative, innovative, and transformative professionals who positively impact their communities. The Experiential Learning Coordinator facilitates meaningful clinical learning experiences across all nursing pathways by securing and maintaining quality clinical sites, orienting faculty and students, providing engaged instruction, and ensuring compliance with affiliate and program requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and teach undergraduate classroom, lab and/or clinical courses in the Department of Nursing.
Provide academic advising and career guidance to nursing students.
Maintain regular office hours and documentation of student interactions.
Engage students in high-impact learning practices.
Participate in Departmental, College, and University service and scholarly activities.
Demonstrate professionalism and effective communication.
Collaborate with faculty and clinical agencies to arrange appropriate clinical placements based on course requirements, student learning needs, and agency availability.
Assist in the acquisition, negotiation, and scheduling of clinical sites to meet program needs in collaboration with faculty.
Ensure completion and maintenance of all affiliation agreements, compliance with agency policies, including updates, and agency contact lists.
Communicate and verify student eligibility for clinical attendance, including health, background, drug screening, CPR certification, adult and child maltreatment requirements, and other documentation and training mandated by clinical partners.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clinical compliance questions or issues from students, faculty, and clinical sites.
Serve as a liaison between the nursing program and clinical partners regarding student placement logistics, orientation, and clearance requirements.
Be available and on call during clinical hours to respond to urgent issues or concerns that may arise in clinical settings.
Help to recruit, recommend, and mentor adjunct clinical faculty and teaching assistants.
Support compliance with Arkansas Board of Nursing standards and other accrediting agencies.
Collaborate with community and industry partners to strengthen advisory board engagement.

Knowledge of nursing education principles, clinical site operations, and accreditation standards.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database, and learning management systems.
Professional demeanor and ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and external partners.
Minimum Requirements:
MSN, MNSc, or MS in Nursing (MSN not required if terminal degree part of a bridge program).
Ph.D., DNP or EdD in nursing or a related field (or ABD with expected completion by May 31st, 2026) in nursing or a related field.
Hold an unencumbered Arkansas nursing license.
Position requires recent experience in a U.S. medical center.
At least two years of professional nursing practice as a registered nurse.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years or greater experience in nursing education.
Experience in clinical coordination.
Familiarity with nursing accreditation, state board standards, clinical compliance systems, and healthcare agency requirements.
Experience in medical-surgical nursing.
Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:
Nursing Department Dean Hall.
Primarily office-based with occasional visits to clinical sites or attendance at meetings with clinical partners.
Must be available for on-call duties during clinical hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required.
