Overview

An Investment Associate will be given a significant level of responsibility and operate as a member of a lean team to execute all aspects of the investment process, including analyzing, structuring, monitoring, and exiting investments. You will have a high level of exposure to the firm’s senior investment professionals and will have a unique opportunity to learn from an experienced technology investment team with a proven track record and significant domain expertise.

Duties And Responsibilities

This Investment Associate will work as a key member of our investment team, primarily responsible for evaluating interesting investments for our fund. Your main roles and responsibilities are outlined below.

  • Investment Diligence – As exciting opportunities are surfaced; you will become part of a deal team responsible for a full evaluation of the deal. Your primary responsibility will be getting to the right answer quickly, prioritizing the key qualitative and quantitative questions to inform the deal team’s go/no-go decision. As the deal team moves into the later stages of a process, you will work to create detailed operating models, retention and waterfall analysis, investment committee materials, and post-close value creation plans.
  • Portfolio Company Support – Following the close of a deal, you will support the Lead Edge Partner on the deal by becoming a trusted advisor to management, participating in board activities and strategic projects as needed. These activities often include the hiring of key executives, reporting and board material creation, strategic customer introductions through the LEC network, and financial plan setting.
  • Research – You will play a critical role in the investment and idea generation process at Lead Edge. You will develop thoughtful views on areas of thematic interest through outside-in-market work (expert network calls, market mapping, synthesizing industry research) and direct conversations with entrepreneurs. Occasional travel may be involved as you attend conferences or in-person meetings with prospective management teams.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of work experience in investment banking and/or growth equity and private equity
  • Demonstrated interest in working in or around the technology industry
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiar with CRM tools such as Salesforce
  • Able to produce internal deliverables such as investment memos/presentations
  • Mastery of financial modeling and detailed KPI analysis
  • Demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship and venture capital/growth equity
  • Team-first orientation with the ability to contribute to firm culture
  • This is an in-person role based in New York City. Applicants must be in or willing to relocate to the New York area

Compensation

  • The budgeted base salary range is $125,000-$160,000. Total compensation will include base salary and performance-based bonus. Total package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be highly competitive relative to market. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
