Associate Account Manager, Employee Benefits

We are actively recruiting for an Associate Account Manager to join the InterWest Team, in our Employee Benefits Insurance Department! The Associate Account Manager position is an introductory position for unlicensed individuals in the process of obtaining a Life-Only, Accident and Health Agent license -or- those newly licensed without a book of business assigned or a small and less complex book of business assigned to maintain.

The Associate Account Manager develops and demonstrates an understanding of the sales process and supports the sales process for new and renewal business. This position will maintain effective client and carrier relationships by providing exceptional customer service with a focus on client retention within the Employee Benefits Insurance department.

This position can be based in our Chico or Sacramento offices.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essentials and responsibilities for the position include the items listed below. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Maintain consistent and continuous communication with Broker or experienced Account Manager or Client Executive, including tasks related to new business set up and applications, renewal applications and marketing
  • Introductory understanding of insurance industry and a basic understanding of the overall company
  • Apply knowledge and understand the extent and terms of the coverage offered
  • Engage in the service process in tandem with a Broker or experienced Account Manager or Client Executive to successfully support the client by establishing best practices and meet the service expectations of clients in accordance with the Employee Benefits standards and workflows
  • Maintain current and accurate client data in the Agency Management System
  • Maintain timeliness and completeness of work when interacting with Broker or experienced Account Manager or Client Executive, and carrier personnel to minimize potential for errors and omissions claims
  • Resolve billing issues relating to client carrier invoices
  • Escalate client issues to Supervisor or experienced Account Manager or Client Executive, or advise the Broker on client issues as appropriate
  • Provide needed information to carriers, Supervisor or experienced Account Manager or Client Executive, Broker, and other internal personnel
  • Regular attendance and participation in InterWest’s industry specific practice groups (if applicable)
  • Regular attendance and participation in industry specific carrier trainings
  • Participate in seminars/webinars and other trainings to maintain required skill levels and further develop career and industry knowledge
  • Take necessary required licensing training to obtain Accident & Health or Sickness Agent license
  • Maintain required continuing education annually to ensure renewal of Accident & Health or Sickness Agent license

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Licensing: Active Life-Only, Accident and Health Agent license or obtained within 90 days of employment.

Special Requirements: Knowledge of, or experience in the insurance industry is preferable.


The estimated starting compensation range for this full-time position is $45,000 – $50,000 annually,

plus, benefits.

Compensation for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to

departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and

geographical location. The hiring range represents the company’s good faith and reasonable estimate

of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
