Associate Architectural Designer

JOB PURPOSE

The Associate Architectural Designer will assist the team to communicate and collaborate closely with clients, staff, consultants, vendors, and contractors to produce successful architectural design outcomes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce documents from schematic design through construction documents, including coordination of architectural details.
  • Create elevations or other graphic documents for meetings, presentations, or submittals (primarily in AutoCAD)
  • Draw elevations, RCP, floor plans, furniture plans and lighting elevations in AutoCAD
  • Project drawings are clear, accurate and in compliance with client approved project documents. Project systems, specifications, and details are accurate and clearly shown.
  • Learn building codes and regulations and determines how they will affect architectural designs.
  • Understand design standards for kitchen and bathrooms as well as cabinetry construction and detailing.
  • Visit jobsites to assist in gathering data needed to complete designs. On-site problem solve.
  • Assist with clients, project teams, vendors, and consultants to produce successful architectural design outcomes
  • Assist in pulling and updating inspirations for projects
  • Assist in creating and updating architectural schedules for hard surfaces, plumbing, hardware, and appliances for all projects
  • Assist in re-selections for hard surfaces, plumbing, hardware, flooring and appliances for all projects
  • Assist with updating catalog sheets/mood boards for all projects
  • Assist in architectural selections and procurement
  • Assist in maintaining client sample boxes.
  • Learn design functional/aesthetic resources and market trends.
  • Organize, coordinate, and maintain hard-surfaces resource area.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD required (firm does not use Revit or other design software)
  • Proven written and verbal communication, computer, and creative skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office products.
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure, juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadline.
  • Proven ability to interact with external client, organizations, and vendors.
  • Proven ability to manage priorities, organizational presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Education (degree(s) required
  • Bachelor’s degree required,
  • Experience (years of experience required)
  • Minimum 3-5+ years AutoCAD and construction documentation experience
  • 3+ years design experience
  • 2+ year of project management/administrative experience

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Working conditions are normal for an office environment with flexibility in schedule. Work may require some weekend and evening work. Some travel may be required.

This position may include physical demands such as the ability to intensely focus and handle stressful situations. You will primarily be working on a computer and sitting in this role. There may be travel at times. Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
