Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our law firm. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive legal support across various practice areas, including criminal defense, immigration law, family law, and litigation. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting legal research, client consultations, drafting legal documents, case preparation, motion practice, and conducting trials.
Duties
- Conduct thorough legal research utilizing LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case development.
- Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, and memoranda with precision and clarity.
- Assist in managing cases across multiple practice areas including criminal defense, family law, and others.
- Prepare for hearings, depositions, and client meetings by organizing case files and relevant documentation.
- Support attorneys in negotiations and settlement discussions with clients or opposing counsel.
- Maintain organized records within the practice management system and ensure compliance with legal standards.
- Stay current on relevant laws and regulations affecting practice areas such as criminal defense, family law, and others.
- Participate in legal administrative tasks as needed to ensure smooth office operations.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Iowa bar.
- Proven experience or strong interest in practicing criminal law and family law.
- Proficiency with LexisNexis for legal research purposes.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear and persuasive legal drafts.
- Strong research skills coupled with the ability to analyze complex legal issues effectively.
- Previous legal experience is preferred.
- Exceptional negotiation skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
