Job Title: Attorney

Location: Calabasas, CA

FLSA Status: Full-time / Exempt

Pay: $150k - $190k dependent on job experience

Feinberg & Waller is a divorce and family law firm. Full-time Attorneys develop relationships with clients as they establish legal needs, provide counsel, help them understand their legal options, and represent them in court, at mediation, and in negotiations.

The attorney should have strong family law litigation skills, including attending hearings, in-person meetings with clients, tracking billable time, and managing assigned caseload. Candidate should also have outstanding written and oral communication skills, be highly motivated and able to take initiative, and have the ability to work well both within a team and independently. Also, this position requires a willingness to help train staff if necessary and perform some administrative duties. Must have high attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and aggressive litigation skills in the courtroom. There will be variances in hours and demands based on the court-imposed and client-driven deadlines.

Duties and responsibilities

· Family Law experience, including all aspects of cases from start to finish

· Discovery: Propounding, responding, reviewing, and preparing motions to compel is required

· Developing strategies to resolve cases favorably and cost-effectively for clients

· Building relationships with clients based on trust; ability to interact w/potentially emotional individuals

· Preparing family law legal documents accurately and in a timely manner

· In-person meetings with clients and other professional advisors

· Desire to argue motions, and attend mediations and court appearances, including trials; comfortable in court and the litigation aspect of the family law practice

· Provide mentorship and guidance to junior attorneys and paralegals

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and legal precedents

· Vehicle required to drive to court appearances, mediations and occasionally to client's location; a valid California Class "C" driver's license

Skills and Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree

· Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school

· Admission to the CA State Bar and membership in good standing

· 5+ years of experience as a licensed civil lititgation attorney, family law preferred

· Ability to work independently or with a team of attorneys to develop the case strategies

· Ability to work well under pressure and handle stressful situations

· Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, public speaking skills

· Ability to negotiate, research, and communicate verbally and in writing effectively

· Adaptability and attention to detail

· Analysis skills

· Case management software experience preferred; experience with LawYaw and Clio are preferred

· Excellent computer literacy

· Communication skills

· Be a self-starter

· Comfortable multitasking and working in fast-paced environment

· Positive, confident, charismatic, influential, intelligent, and compassionate person.

· Strong active listening skills

· Empathy for clients specifically with the ability to put them at ease during their difficult time

· Organized, focused, and attentive

· Receptive to feedback

· Professional demeanor and appearance

· Type 50+ WPM.

Working conditions

· This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets

· Some remote work is possible after a trial period, but the position is not a work-from-home position, and in-person office attendance is generally required

Physical requirements

· Sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting; sit, stand, walk, reach, twist, turn, kneel, bend, squat, and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time;

· Perform duties requiring grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination;

· Lift, drag, and push/pull files, paper, and documents weighing up to 25 pounds;

operate office equipment;

· Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents and to operate office equipment;

· Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
