Are You An Attorney Who Wants to Grow With Purpose, Not Just Bill Hours?

Do you have a heart for helping families and individuals navigate some of the most important decisions of their lives? Do you love learning and want to be part of a team that values systems, clarity, and compassion just as much as legal expertise?

If you’re nodding “yes,” Legal Journeys may be the next step on your professional path.

We’re looking for a coachable, driven, and relationship‑focused Associate Attorney to join our growing estate planning law firm in Madison and Huntsville Alabama.

Why This Role Is Different

This isn’t a place where you’ll be stuck behind a desk drafting documents all day without context or chasing a billable‑hour quota.

At Legal Journeys, we have a clear process that guides our clients and our team through every step with purpose. You’ll be learning and executing that process while growing your legal skills and becoming an expert in:

  • Estate Planning
  • Elder Law

We want someone who is humble enough to learn but confident enough to lead. This role is ideal for an attorney with 1–3 years of experience who’s ready to build something meaningful—not just burn out billing hours. We’ll also consider a sharp, entry‑level attorney who is hungry, aligned with our values, and committed to growing in this practice area.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Meeting with clients to guide them through our estate planning processes
  • Drafting and reviewing wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other legal documents
  • Educating clients on their options and helping them make informed, empowered decisions
  • Collaborating with our team to continuously improve and optimize internal systems
  • Learning and implementing Legal Journeys’ proven client experience framework
  • Taking initiative and ownership of your caseload with strong mentorship and support
  • Helping scale client acquisition through networking, speaking, and educational events

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Is licensed to practice law in Alabama (or will be eligible to become licensed soon)
  • Is highly coachable and eager to grow personally and professionally
  • Is passionate about providing an exceptional client experience
  • Can communicate complex legal concepts with clarity and empathy
  • Thrives in a collaborative, organized, and systems‑driven work environment
  • Has 1–3 years of experience in practice (a plus, not required)
  • Has estate planning experience (a plus, not required)
  • Is bilingual (English/Spanish) (a plus, not required)

This Role Might Be A Great Fit If:

  • You want a long‑term home, not just a stepping‑stone job
  • You enjoy meeting with clients and are energized by helping real people solve real problems
  • You’re willing to follow a proven process and then help improve it over time
  • You’re just as comfortable in a client meeting as you are drafting at your desk
  • You’re hungry for feedback and growth - not defensive about it

This Role Is NOT For You If:

  • You see client meetings as an interruption, not the point of the work
  • You want to do everything “your way” and resist firm systems and processes
  • You are mainly motivated by maximizing billable hours instead of client outcomes
  • You dislike being held accountable to goals and metrics
  • You bring drama, gossip, or negativity into the workplace

Why Work at Legal Journeys?

We’re not a traditional law firm, and we’re proud of that.

At Legal Journeys, you’ll be part of a team that believes the law should empower people, not confuse them. We help families and individuals make some of life’s most important decisions with clarity and confidence.

You’ll be surrounded by professionals who are constantly improving, learning, and leading with heart. This is a firm where you can grow - financially, professionally, and personally. We invest in our people, our processes, and our culture because we believe that’s how we best serve our clients.

You’ll also have:

  • A clear, teachable client journey instead of reinventing the wheel on every file
  • Direct mentorship and feedback from experienced attorneys
  • Opportunities to build your own reputation through community education and networking
  • A powerhouse support team so you can focus on the highest‑value work

Benefits You’ll Enjoy

  • Health insurance
  • Dental, vision, life, and disability insurance available
  • Retirement plan
  • Generous holidays, sick leave, vacation, and paid time off
  • Healthy work‑life balance
  • Working with a supportive, high‑performing team
