We are partnering with well-established boutique criminal defense practices in Phoenix seeking an experienced Associate Attorney who is passionate about protecting clients’ rights and sharpening their litigation skills. This role is ideal for an attorney who wants meaningful courtroom exposure, direct client interaction, and mentorship from seasoned trial lawyers, without getting lost in a large firm environment.

If you thrive in fast-paced legal settings, enjoy advocacy, and want to build a strong reputation in criminal defense, this could be an excellent next step.

What You’ll Do

  • Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony matters from arraignment through resolution
  • Appear regularly in court hearings, motion practice, and negotiations
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and discovery
  • Communicate directly with clients, advising, strategizing, and advocating
  • Negotiate with prosecutors and collaborate with defense teams
  • Assist in trial preparation and, depending on experience, participate in or lead trials
  • Manage an active caseload while maintaining high standards of professionalism and ethics

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of criminal defense experience (public or private sector)
  • Active Arizona Bar license in good standing
  • Strong courtroom presence and comfort appearing independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and strong organizational habits
  • A client-first mindset with a genuine interest in criminal defense
  • Ability to work collaboratively while managing responsibilities independently

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Work with boutique firms known for quality advocacy and strong reputations
  • Hands-on courtroom experience, not just back-office work
  • Exposure to a wide range of criminal cases
  • Mentorship and professional development opportunities
  • Competitive compensation with growth potential
  • A culture that values integrity, grit, and client advocacy

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
  • Performance-based bonuses (varies by firm)

  • Long-term growth and partnership potential for the right fit

Pay: $85,834.00 - $125,000.00 per year
