Associate Attorney

Full job description

Cook Alex Ltd., a long-established intellectual property law firm, is currently accepting applications for a qualified associate attorney with one to three years’ experience to join our IP Legal Team. We are seeking smart and engaging candidates who are motivated to work and excel. Attorneys must have an engineering, technical, computer science, or other hard science degree, juris doctor degree, and be a member in good standing of the Illinois State Bar and registered to practice before the USPTO. This position will be based in our Chicago area office, with a hybrid schedule available (e.g., three days in office/two remote day per week).

Position Summary

The Associate Attorney will support the firm’s patent and trademark prosecution practice and have the opportunity to obtain experience in such prosecution, managing correspondence from the USPTO and foreign Patent Offices, conducting patent and trademark searches, and assisting with due diligence, freedom-to-operate projects and litigation. The position provides a great opportunity to excel in an IP practice at a boutique law firm. The candidate should also be flexible and work overtime as needed.
