Associate Attorney (Criminal Defense)

Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in a wide range of criminal defense matters, including misdemeanors and felonies.
• Prepare and argue motions, conduct legal research, and draft pleadings.
• Appear in court for arraignments, hearings, plea negotiations, and trials.
• Conduct client interviews and maintain consistent, clear communication throughout each case.
• Analyze case law, statutes, discovery, and evidence to formulate strong defense strategies.
• Negotiate plea agreements with prosecutors when in the best interest of the client.
• Assist with jury selection, prepare witnesses, and conduct trial advocacy.
• Travel to courts across Alabama to represent clients in various jurisdictions as needed.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Alabama and in good standing with the Alabama State Bar.
• Minimum of 2–4 years of experience practicing law, in criminal defense.
• Strong litigation, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
• Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to manage a demanding caseload independently.
• Exceptional legal research, writing, and communication skills.
• Passionate about criminal defense and committed to protecting the rights of the accused.
• Willingness to travel statewide for court appearances, client meetings, and hearings.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Starting Salary: $65,000–$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
• Gas reimbursement provided for work-related travel across Alabama.
