We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our fast-paced criminal defense firm. The ideal candidate will thrive in a high-volume environment, demonstrate strong courtroom presence, and be committed to providing exceptional advocacy and client service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in criminal matters including arraignments, hearings, conferences, motions, and trials
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, memoranda, and other court filings
- Manage assigned caseload from intake through disposition, including strategy development and case preparation
- Communicate effectively with clients, prosecutors, judges, court personnel, and law enforcement
- Review discovery, police reports, and evidence; identify legal issues and defenses
- Appear in court regularly and meet all deadlines in a fast-moving docket
- Participate in client consultations and provide clear, realistic guidance regarding case strategy and outcomes
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient case handling
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active member of the New York State Bar, admitted and in good standing, with no pending disciplinary matters
- 0–3+ years of experience in criminal defense, prosecution, or related litigation (new attorneys encouraged to apply)
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage a heavy caseload and prioritize competing deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, client-focused demeanor
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior courtroom experience in criminal matters
- Experience handling misdemeanors and/or felony cases
- Bilingual in Spanish (spoken and written)
- Familiarity with local court systems and procedures
- Experience with legal practice management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, or similar)

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
