Associate Attorney – Family Law Focus

About the Opportunity

We are a small but growing law firm in southeast Kansas seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with a strong interest in family law litigation. This role is ideal for someone eager to take on cases from day one, represent clients in court, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of families.

The position emphasizes family law matters (divorce, custody, child support, guardianships, etc.), with opportunities to broaden your practice into other areas of law. You will gain immediate courtroom experience while working in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in hearings, mediations, and trials, primarily in family law cases
• Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents with precision and clarity
• Conduct legal research to support case strategy and client advocacy
• Negotiate settlements and advocate for clients both in and out of court
• Manage case files and maintain strong client communication

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Kansas, or eligible to obtain license promptly
• Confident, professional demeanor with readiness to handle cases independently
• Strong advocacy skills—both written and oral
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
• Enthusiasm for courtroom work and client representation
• Preferred but not required: experience in family law through prior employment, internships, or law school clinics

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 annually, with performance-based bonus opportunities

Work Environment

• Full-time, in-person role based in Parsons, Kansas
• Standard schedule: Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts
