Associate Attorney – General Litigation/Insurance Defense

Position Overview

We are seeking highly motivated Associate Attorneys with 1–7 years of experience in general liability, insurance coverage, or workers’ compensation defense. The ideal candidate will have exceptional legal writing, research, and litigation skills, and the ability to manage cases efficiently while providing outstanding client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct file reviews and analyze claims and causes of action.
  • Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, motions, pleadings, memos, and appellate briefs.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests.
  • Collaborate with and retain expert witnesses.
  • Prepare cases for hearings and trials, including trial attendance.
  • Provide clients with sound legal advice regarding rights, obligations, risks, and compliance.
  • Manage billable hour requirements and case deadlines effectively.
  • Maintain consistent, professional communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
  • Stay current on changes in relevant state and federal law and participate in continuing legal education (CLE).

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice in Mississippi; admission to other states a plus.
  • 1–7 years of experience in general liability, insurance coverage, or workers’ compensation defense.
  • Superior legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Strong oral advocacy and courtroom skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management software.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong professional ethics, discretion, and commitment to client service.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $69,323.09 - $95,000.00 per year
