Job Overview
Caruso Law Group, a boutique/small immigration law firm that focuses on family-based and humanitarian-based immigration cases, is actively seeking a passionate and diligent Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to upholding the law while recognizing the human element at the heart of each case. This role demands a professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and who can confidently represent client interests in immigration proceedings and applications. This role also demands a professional who can self-manage and self-motivate while also working collaboratively with the Caruso Law Group legal team.
Responsibilities:
- Legal Document Preparation: Craft and manage legal documents with meticulous attention, including petitions, applications, briefs, motions, and appeals, ensuring all filings adhere to legal standards and deadlines.
- Court Representation & Appearances: Serve as legal counsel for clients in immigration courts. Prepare for and conduct hearings, trials, and appeals, presenting evidence and arguments effectively. Make regular appearances on behalf of clients in Master and Individual Hearings with the Immigration Court, both in-person and via WebEx.
- Client Advisement: Offer comprehensive legal advice, evaluate case merits, and maintain open, consistent communication with clients regarding their legal options and case progress.
- Interaction with ICE: Liaise with ICE and other federal agencies to advocate for clients, challenge detentions, negotiate terms, and handle administrative matters.
- Case Management: Oversee a diverse caseload, balancing multiple cases simultaneously with acute attention to detail and procedural compliance.
- Legal Research: Engage in rigorous legal research, staying abreast of changes in immigration law and applying relevant findings to strengthen client cases.
- USCIS Appearances: Prepare clients for appearance as USCIS Interviews and serve as legal counsel for clients at the USCIS Field Office during USCIS interviews.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Admission to a State Bar in the United States.
- Direct experience in immigration law (preferred but not required).
- Fluency in another language (preferred but not required).
- Exceptional writing, research, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a high caseload and engage with clients effectively.
- A fervent advocate for immigration rights with a solid commitment to client service.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
