Associate Attorney – Insurance Defense

Job Description:
A motivated and proactive associate attorney with at least three years of insurance defense experience in New York State is sought to join a busy litigation practice. This role involves making in-person court appearances in the New York City metropolitan area, handling depositions, and providing regular reports to claims representatives. Depending on interest, the position may also include municipal liability/Section 1983 matters and insurance coverage analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in state and federal courts throughout New York City, Long Island, Westchester, and Rockland.
  • Manage and litigate automobile and premises liability cases from inception through trial and appeal.
  • Conduct discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, trial preparation, and appellate arguments.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Provide timely and detailed reporting to clients and insurance carriers.
  • Accurately record and maintain billable hours.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years practicing insurance defense in New York State.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • Admission to the federal bar preferred but not required.
  • Strong litigation skills, including depositions, motion practice, and court appearances.
  • Ability to make regular in-person appearances in New York City metropolitan area courts.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
