Associate Attorney – Insurance Defense Litigation

Fowler Hirtzel McNulty & Spaulding (FHMS) is a regional insurance defense boutique with offices in Philadelphia, Allentown, Harrisburg, and New Jersey. Founded in 2012, we’ve built a strong reputation for pragmatic, trial-ready defense work and long-standing client relationships. Our attorneys handle complex civil litigation across transportation, premises liability, construction defect, and general liability defense.

The Role:

We’re seeking a litigation associate (2–5 years) to join our Allentown office. The attorney will work closely with partners on active litigation matters and gain courtroom exposure early. This is a strong opportunity for attorneys looking to transition from government service or general litigation into insurance defense.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage or support litigation matters from case intake through resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, and dispositive motions.
  • Conduct or assist with depositions and hearings.
  • Communicate with clients, claims professionals, and opposing counsel.
  • Contribute to trial preparation and strategy.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing in Pennsylvania.
  • 2–5 years of civil litigation experience (insurance defense preferred).
  • Strong writing, advocacy, and case management skills.
  • Courtroom or trial experience is a plus (former prosecutors/PDs encouraged).

Pay: $115,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
